Adult Sports Program
The American Society of Sao Paulo is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, fostering networking opportunities, and providing a fun and engaging member experience. As part of this commitment, AmSoc organizes regular competitive athletic activities throughout the year. These events are designed to encourage physical activity and promote wellness among members, while also offering opportunities for members to connect and socialize with each other. Some of the most popular athletic activities organized by the AmSoc include flag football, basketball, golf, and softball. These events are open to members of all skill levels and ages, providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who wish to participate. Through these activities, members can build strong social bonds while staying active and enjoying the many benefits of a healthy lifestyle
Flag Football
The American Society of Sao Paulo organizes and American “Flag” Football tournament, called the “Abacaxi Bowl”, held usually on the Saturday before the Super Bowl. Regularly, eight to ten teams enter to play three games of six on six in a morning round robin. Then after a short lunch break in the afternoon the top eight teams play in a single elimination runoff until a champion is crowned.
Basketball

Usually, in April, we have our annual five on five full-court basketball tournament. Typically six teams enter to play three games in a round-robin format and then the top four teams play in a single-elimination runoff until a champion is crowned.
In April or May, depending on the level of interest, which varies from year to year, we organize a Tennis Doubles tournament. We separate into two groups to equilibrate the level of play among the players. Within the two groups, everyone plays at least one doubles game with another partner. The players with the best records win prizes.

Golf

Munro Cup. This team match-play event is a long-standing tradition between the American Society and the St. Andrews Society. This annual sporting and social event, which usually summons around 50+ golfers to a one-day match play tournament, is organized and hosted by one of the two teams on an alternating basis every other year. The winning team is presented the Munro Cup, in honor of Norman Munro who created this annual sporting event between these two Societies many years ago.
